Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Receives Rock Star Welcome from India's Tech Enthusiasts
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang receives a rock star welcome at the AI summit in India. Passes for the event were sold out, with tech enthusiasts spending thousands of rupees to attend. Huang's popularity in India reflects the global "Jensanity" phenomenon.

The event, held in Mumbai, was completely sold out, with tech enthusiasts paying thousands of rupees to attend. This warm reception reflects the "Jensanity" seen in other parts of the world, particularly Taiwan, as Nvidia's earnings skyrocket and its market valuation reaches multi-trillion dollars.
The summit, where Nvidia announced plans to provide AI chips to Reliance Industries and other Indian companies, was delayed for more than half an hour due to a massive crowd, estimated to be "easily a few thousand" by an Nvidia employee.
Yuvraj Mehta, a robotics engineer at an AI startup in Nvidia's incubation program, compared the event to a Coldplay concert for tech fans, citing the high demand for tickets. Two engineers, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that they spent over 40,000 rupees (US$476) travelling from Surat, Gujarat, and Gurgaon, Haryana, to Mumbai for the summit.
Big Tech CEOs are extremely popular in India, particularly among students pursuing engineering degrees at prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology. However, attendees noted that Jensen Huang, who established Nvidia as a key provider of processors critical for generative AI, stands out even among this esteemed group.
Akash Bansal, the founder of robotics startup Orangewood Labs, referred to Huang as a hero in the academic, student, and AI ecosystem communities, emphasising his influence and reputation in these circles.
