ByteDance's Volcano Engine has announced its latest artificial intelligence (AI) model lineup at the FORCE conference, featuring the Doubao 2.1 Pro model. The company states Doubao 2.1 Pro has crossed the "production-level capability threshold."

The Doubao 2.1 Pro model shows significant advancements across coding, agent capabilities, and visual language understanding. It achieved top-tier results in benchmark evaluations for code generation on Terminal Bench 2.1, SWE-Pro, and SciCode.
The model also leads in agent and multimodal tasks on OSWorld, MobileWorld, and MMMU-Pro. ByteDance claims Doubao 2.1 Pro outperforms Claude Opus 4.6 across multiple evaluation metrics.
Its pricing is set at 6 yuan per million input tokens and 30 yuan per million output tokens, undercutting major competitors. Cache-hit pricing is as low as 1.2 yuan.
Volcano Engine indicates the total cost of ownership for Doubao 2.1 Pro is nearly 80% lower than Claude Opus 4.6. A Turbo variant is available at half the price for high-frequency usage scenarios.
Daily token calls for the Doubao model family surpassed 180 trillion as of June, marking over a tenfold growth in the past year. Volcano Engine holds a 49.5% market share in China's public cloud Model as a Service (MaaS) segment, according to IDC.
The upcoming Seedance 2.5 video generation model represents a significant upgrade, slated for release in July. It can generate 30-second native videos in a single pass.
This model supports up to 50 multi-modal assets for joint generation. It introduces localised editing capabilities while maintaining visual consistency across frames.
Volcano Engine president Tan Dait emphasised that video generation is a pathway to world models with immense potential in industrial applications. Seedance is already deployed in live streaming e-commerce, industrial manufacturing, and autonomous driving scenarios for data synthesis and simulation.
Beyond video, ByteDance showcased Seedream 5.0 Pro for image generation, featuring interactive editing and multi-layer separation capabilities. Seed-Audio 1.0 was also presented, supporting multi-character dialogue, background music, and sound effects in zero-shot mode for audio generation.
On the platform side, Volcano Engine launched Ark Command Line Interface (CLI) for one-command agent deployment. It also upgraded AgentKit and HiAgent 3.0, and introduced ArkClaw, an enterprise-grade agent workbench.
More than 1.1 million enterprises and individual developers currently use the Volcano Ark model service. Additionally, two hundred companies have surpassed 1 trillion annual token calls.
