On Tuesday, Anthropic introduced an AI agent within the Slack application of Salesforce, allowing it to collaborate with employees in group conversations and reinforcing its commitment to the enterprise sector, which has become a crucial arena for AI startups.

Users can summon Claude Tag into a Slack thread by typing "@Claude." This tool reads conversations, breaks down tasks, and proactively flags relevant updates across an organisation without direct prompts.
Claude Tag is available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers, and it will retain context over time. Anthropic plans to expand the agent's availability to other platforms.
This initiative builds on significant early demand from businesses for Anthropic's artificial intelligence tools. This demand has contributed to its valuation reaching USD 965 billion, which exceeds OpenAI's valuation. The company previously filed confidentially for an initial public offering.
Anthropic stated that administrators maintain tight control over the data and tools Claude Tag can access within each channel.
Rob Seaman, general manager of Slack, stated the integration is "making AI multiplayer." He added that "Instead of a private back-and-forth, Claude Tag shows up in the open."
Cat Wu, head of product for Anthropic's Claude Code, highlighted the agent's form factor. Wu said, "A lot of the capabilities did exist, but actually the form factor of being able to tag it the same way that you would a coworker is really powerful."
Wu provided an example, stating she granted her Claude Tag access to Gmail. The agent reads her messages, flags communications from important contacts, and then posts these alerts to her on Slack, where she is more responsive. Wu added that Anthropic intends to bring this capability to other platforms in the coming weeks.
