A spherical amphibious robot capable of chasing suspects on land and water is undergoing trials with police in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, China.

The 125-kg robot, known as the Rotunbot RT-G, can reach speeds of up to 35 km/h and is equipped with non-lethal weapons including tear gas, smoke bombs, horns, acoustic dispersers, and net shooters.
Developed by Logon Technology, the robot uses gyroscopic self-stabilisation to maintain balance and traction. It features GPS, multiple cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to navigate its surroundings, avoid obstacles, and track targets.

The robot is waterproof, buoyant, and robust enough to handle mud, slush, and minor off-road conditions. It can drop from knee-high ledges and potentially roll down staircases.
Currently, the robot is remotely operated, though autonomous capabilities are expected in future versions.
The trial is taking place in a commercial zone, where the robot is being evaluated for its effectiveness in non-lethal suspect apprehension and crowd control.
