WhatsApp has officially launched its long-awaited app for iPad, bringing a full-featured messaging experience to Apple tablet users for the first time.

Previously, iPad users had to rely on WhatsApp Web, a workaround that lacked many core features. The new standalone app eliminates that need, offering native support and a richer user experience.
The iPad version supports voice and video calls with up to 32 participants. It also enables screen sharing and uses both front and rear cameras, integrating iPad’s camera features such as Center Stage, Studio Light, Reactions and background effects.
Users can now view disappearing media, also known as view-once content, and access features like voice message transcription.
The app is fully compatible with iPadOS multitasking tools, including Stage Manager, Split View and Slide Over.
Its interface is optimised for the iPad’s larger screen, with a split layout showing contacts on the left and conversations on the right. Navigation tabs for Updates, Calls, Communities, Chats and Settings are located at the bottom.
WhatsApp for iPad is now available for download on the Apple App Store.
