Samsung Smart Rooms Bring SmartThings to Singapore Stays

Samsung Electronics Singapore is piloting AI-enabled Smart Rooms at Fraser Residence River Promenade, bringing SmartThings controls into three serviced apartments from 1 October 2026. Guests will be able to use connected Samsung televisions, audio equipment, home appliances and Galaxy devices through routines designed around arrival, mornings, entertainment and bedtime, offering an early look at how consumer smart-home technology could reshape hotel stays.

The pilot covers three rooms across the property's One-Bedroom Deluxe and Studio Deluxe categories. Each room brings together Samsung products and compatible connected devices through SmartThings, giving guests a single system for controlling different parts of their stay.
Rather than asking visitors to manage each device separately, the rooms use automated routines built around common moments. Arrival settings can prepare the space when a guest enters, while morning, entertainment and bedtime routines can adjust connected products for the activity at hand.
The setup includes Samsung televisions and audio equipment alongside home appliances and Galaxy devices. SmartThings acts as the connecting layer, allowing the room's devices to work together instead of operating as isolated products.
For Samsung, the trial extends its connected-home platform into hospitality. It also gives Fraser Residence River Promenade a way to test whether automated room controls can make serviced-apartment stays more convenient without requiring guests to learn several separate interfaces.
The Samsung Smart Rooms will be available for booking from 1 October 2026 through Fraser Residence River Promenade. The pilot's three-room scale keeps the initial deployment focused while giving both companies a live environment in which to assess how guests use the connected routines.
The project offers a practical preview of how smart-home systems could move beyond private residences. Its next test will be whether guests find the routines intuitive enough to improve the stay rather than adding another layer of technology to manage.
