This call to action comes after a federal appeals court ruling that the social media app could face a ban if not sold to a U.S.-based company by Jan. 19.

TikTok has rapidly grown to 170 million U.S. users, particularly attracting younger audiences with its short, often humorous videos. It has successfully attracted advertisers from major U.S. players and introduced the TikTok Shop, serving as a marketplace for small businesses.

Concerns over TikTok's Chinese ownership gathering data on American consumers have led the U.S. Congress to pass a law mandating Chinese-backed ByteDance, TikTok's owner, to divest its U.S. operations or risk a ban. A federal appeals court recently upheld this law, heightening the threat to TikTok's future.

The looming possibility of a ban within six weeks has stirred worries among users and content creators, prompting some to take proactive measures. Democratic social media influencer Chris Mowrey, with 470,000 TikTok followers, expressed concerns over the potential economic impact on small businesses and creators if TikTok were to disappear.

Content creator Chris Burkett, followed by 1.3 million users for his men's lifestyle content, shared his skepticism about TikTok's longevity in the United States. He encouraged his audience to follow him on alternative platforms like Instagram and YouTube, anticipating a shift away from TikTok.

Food travel content creator SnipingForDom, boasting 898,000 followers on TikTok, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the app's future. While not predicting the end of TikTok, he advised followers to connect with him on Instagram, preparing for potential changes in the social media landscape.

TikTok Shop consultant Sarah Jannetti revealed that her clients are not yet alarmed by the possibility of a TikTok ban. They remain cautious and will only consider transitioning their businesses once more concrete information emerges.
