Apart from thrilling races, the event continues to be a prime showcase for cutting-edge technology, not only in automotives but also in data and network solutions, among others.

TeamViewer, a tech company known for its remote access and control tools, was at the event to support its partner, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team continues to use the TeamViewer Tensor as its remote connectivity platform across its racing operations. The platform enables remote connectivity for always-on scenarios and boasts best-in-class security, scalability, and manageability, helping the team optimise performance during runs.

It also allows the team’s engineers trackside and in the Race Support Room (RSR) at the factory to provide the drivers with fast and reliable access to live data they gather during runs, without the driver needing to get out of the car. These include weather data, run plans, strategy and competitor analysis, as well as a live feed TV of the session, playbacks of their run and footage of competitors on the track.

Inside the garage, two engineers can control what data is fed to the driver on each of the drop-down screens.

Meanwhile, TeamViewer’s software allows the engineers to share insight with their driver with zero delay, meaning they can talk the driver through the information as it’s presented. This can be a huge advantage in the team’s preparation for the next track run.

“TeamViewer enabled us to keep innovating when navigating remote working, and it enabled us to augment the small trackside crew that travels the world with the full force of the team back in the UK,” said Toto Wolff, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Principal and CEO

In Esports, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team also uses TeamViewer’s solution to connect to their gaming PCs securely and seamlessly. The solution enabled the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Esports Team to access and manage the gaming PCs in the Esports room from any device without impacting the Esports drivers’ performance. Esports engineers could also connect to the drivers’ computer in milliseconds and clear the glitch with minimal interruption.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team values its partnership with TeamViewer and is working closely with the tech company to further identify more use cases for its solutions in the garage.
