Finally, the update to Sony’s A9 camera has been announced. The new Sony A9 II has impressive specs like 20fps blackout-free continuous shooting with AF and AE tracking, 10fps continuous shooting with the mechanical shutter, even better AF performance and more.

There’s a built-in 1000BASE-T Ethernet terminal, and a new Voice Memo function that will allow photographers to attach spoken information to images which will be replayed when the photos are reviewed. This is invaluable for photographers who send photos back for a team to edit, since the team will now be able to hear what edits the photographer would like to be made.

Voice to text conversion is also available and the text will be added to the images in the form of IPTC metadata.

The A9 II will run on the same 35mm 24.2MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor as the A9, and now there’s an Anti-Flicker shooting mode which detects and automatically adjusts for artificial or fluorescent lighting in a scene.

With 693 focal-plane phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast detection AF points, the A9 II is continuing Sony’s history of excellent AF technology. The camera will include Real-time Eye AF, Real-time Eye AF for animals, Real-time Eye AF for movies, Real-time Tracking and more.

The A9 II (S$6,299) will be available at selected Sony stores, Sony centres and Sony authorised dealers from November 2019 onwards. More information is available on Sony’s website.
