The Premier League has entered a five-year partnership with Microsoft to integrate artificial intelligence into its digital platforms, aiming to boost fan engagement and streamline access to match data.

Announced Tuesday, the collaboration will see Microsoft’s AI tool, Copilot, embedded across the league’s digital services. The tool will provide fans with instant facts and statistics about clubs, players, and matches.

Copilot will draw from more than 30 seasons of data, 300,000 articles, and 9,000 videos to deliver real-time insights and personalised content.
The Premier League is also migrating its core digital infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. This move is intended to simplify AI integration and create a unified platform for the league’s digital operations.

AI is increasingly being adopted by sports leagues to manage large volumes of data and enhance audience engagement. Spain’s LaLiga, home to clubs like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, already uses AI for match analysis and media production.
