Poco F2 Pro Review: 5 Things I Like About It
Updated: Aug 20, 2021
This smartphone is going to redefine the budget smartphone arena. The Poco F2 Pro is the second generation of the Poco sub-brand from Xiaomi, and here are the five things we like about this phone.
Before we get into the five things, let’s talk a bit about the specs of this phone. It’s running on a Snapdragon 865, so a flagship chip in this. The display is a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, running at 395 PPI. There’s also a 64MP camera on the back, but it’s pixel binned to 16MP.
There’s also a 4700mAh battery in this, and the biggest part, there’s 5G.
1. Build quality
Like the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, the moment this phone came out of the box was a “wow” moment. It felt great in the hand, at a much lower price point than the Mi 10 Pro. Another thing that might please some people out there is that the display on this phone is flat, which means more screen real estate and no false touches.
The colour is great as well, it’s a matte finish gray with a gradient, so you might see some fingerprints, but it’s not as much as you’d get with a glossy back.
2. Display
The 6.67-inch AMOLED display is great, and the best thing is that it’s bezel-less and uninterrupted since the front selfie camera pops up instead of being cut on the screen. It’s relatively fast, and again, it’s a flat display.
3. Processing and speed
With the Snapdragon 865 inside, the phone is blazing fast, no issues at all. The 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM inside definitely help as well. After all, these are flagship specs inside a budget-friendly phone.
4. Cameras
You get four cameras here, a depth-sensing camera, the 64MP lens, an ultra-wide and a telephoto camera. The 64MP camera does a great job, but again, you get pixel-binned images out of it. Is it flagship-level? Not quite, but nobody’s going to notice a difference if you’re just posting images on Facebook or Instagram.
Not to mention, you get 8K video recording on this as well. It’s really good quality 8K video that you get too.
5. Battery life
The 4700mAh battery in this means you’ll get a full day’s usage out of this phone. If you’re a heavy gamer, it might be a bit less. But if you’re just using this for WhatsApp, some browsing, day to day tasks, photo editing and watching YouTube videos, you’re going to be more than happy with this phone.
6. 5G
Yeah we said five things, but how can we leave out 5G? At this price point, it’s rare to see 5G capabilities in phones, and if you get this on a contract with telcos, it might be even less than the S$899 it normally goes for.
Flagship level specs, 5G capabilities, great cameras and fantastic build quality at a price point many people can afford. Hats off to Xiaomi for coming up with yet another excellent Poco series phone and knocking it out of the park.
