OpenAI is preparing to launch its next-generation artificial intelligence model, GPT-5, as early as August, according to a report by The Verge.

The new model will differ from previous versions by integrating multiple distinct models capable of performing various functions, rather than relying on a single AI system.
GPT-5 is expected to include OpenAI’s o3 model and other technologies, as part of a broader effort to streamline its offerings, Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman said in February.
The Microsoft-backed company ultimately plans to merge its o-series and GPT-series models to create AI systems that can access all available tools and manage a wide range of tasks.

The Verge reported that while an early August release is likely, OpenAI’s launch timelines may shift due to development challenges, server capacity issues, or competing AI model announcements and leaks.
