The semiconductor giant has launched the GeForce RTX 4060 lineup of cards, with two releases that leverage the proprietary Ada Lovelace architecture, which feature DLSS 3 neural rendering and next-generation ray-tracing at high frame rates.

"The RTX 4060 family delivers PC gamers both great value and great performance at 1080p, whether they’re building a gaming battle box or an AI-assisted creation station," said Matt Wuebbling, Vice President of Global GeForce Marketing at Nvidia.

The lineup consists of the RTX 4060 Ti and GeForce RTX 4060. The Ti option in particular is on average up to 2.6x faster than the RTX 2060 Super and up to 1.7x faster than GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. In games without frame generation, the card is 1.6x faster than the RTX 2060 Super.

The 4060 Ti’s memory subsystem features 32MB of L2 cache and 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6 memory. The RTX 4060, on the other hand, has 24MB of L2 cache with 8GB of GDDR6 memory. For those unfamiliar, the L2 cache reduces the demands of the GPU's memory interface, Improving both cards. They also include key technologies that improve gaming performance, namely DLSS 3 and ray-tracing.

DLSS 3 uses artificial intelligence systems in real-time to create new, high-quality frames from a lower-resolution input. It works in tandem with DLSS Super Resolution to improve performance while delivering high-resolution visuals. The RTX 4060 lineup supports DLSS 3 for more than 300 games and applications, including The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and Diablo IV. A DLSS 3 plug-in for Unreal Engine 5 is also coming soon.

Meanwhile, ray-tracing performance sees significant improvement over the previous generation, thanks to advancements like Shader Execution Reordering, Opacity Micromap and Displaced Micro-Mesh Engines. These advancements enable games to support multiple ray-tracing effects to improve visual quality and immersion.

The 8GB variant of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti will be available starting Wednesday, 24 May at US$399, while the 16GB variant will be available in July, starting at US$499. The GeForce RTX 4060 will also be available in the same month, starting at US$299.

An Nvidia Founders Edition design of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB will also be available directly via Nvidia's website and select retailers. Custom boards for the whole RTX 4060 lineup, including stock-clocked and factory-overclocked models, will be available from providers such as Asus, Colorful, Gainward, Galax, Gigabyte, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY and ZOTAC, among others.
