Meta's AI Chatbot Set to Speak in Celebrity Voices, Including John Cena and Judi Dench
Meta Platforms to introduce celebrity voices for its AI chatbot. Meta's annual Connect conference to showcase audio feature and AR glasses. Celebrities like Judi Dench and John Cena to lend their voices to Meta's chatbot.
According to a source familiar with the company's plans, Meta has inked deals with renowned actors such as Judi Dench, Kristen Bell, and John Cena to lend their voices to the digital assistant, alongside Awkwafina and Keegan-Michael Key, as well as generic voice options.
The audio feature is expected to be unveiled at Meta's annual Connect conference, which begins this week. Along with this exciting development, Meta is expected to unveil the first version of its augmented-reality glasses at the event, shedding light on its hardware roadmap, which includes the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses that integrated the Meta AI chatbot's audio version last year.
The celebrity voices will make their debut in the United States and other English-speaking markets this week across Meta's suite of apps, which includes Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Earlier this summer, Bloomberg reported Meta's discussions with celebrities about voice collaborations for AI projects, paving the way for this innovative integration.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's CEO, recently teased the upcoming feature by posting a promotional video on Instagram that featured John Cena demonstrating the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. The company's push to deploy generative artificial intelligence products is consistent with its strategy to improve user experience and maintain competitiveness in the tech landscape.
Meta has been actively working to improve its AI capabilities, with the goal of making it a key component of its app ecosystem. The company's previous attempts at celebrity-inspired chatbot versions, which featured personalities such as Paris Hilton and Snoop Dogg, failed to gain traction. However, Meta has since shifted its focus to an AI Studio product that enables content creators to create chatbot avatars.
