LG CordZero A9 Kompressor with All-in-One Tower Review: It Made Sense
The idea of having a free-standing charging station that doubles up as a dust collection point seemed somewhat excessive given the limited space we have in our homes but after getting up close and personal with the LG CordZero™ A9 Kompressor™ with All-in-One Tower™, we might have changed our minds.
We shared some first impressions of the LG CordZero A9 Kompressor in August 2021, so some of you may find the name familiar. The features of this powerhouse remain the same, but now they’ve paired it with the All-in-One Tower™ which acts as a storage, charger and dust emptying container.
The Smart Inverter Motor powers the vacuum to produce suction power of up to 200W, which LG claims is a 40% improvement over its predecessor. Whereas the Dyson V12, with its cyclone technology, has a suction power of 150AW. Standing at 2.7kg, the A9 is also 500g heavier than the V12.
The A9 comes with an adjustable 4-step telescopic wand, which means you can adjust the length according to your height or the task at hand, making it a more comfortable experience. This is important for something that you have to do so often, every day for some in fact, especially if you have pets and children at home.
The dual batteries are a very thoughtful feature. The ability to pop in a fully charged battery to continue your cleaning routine, with minimal disruption, is something many time-starved individuals will appreciate. Another great time-saving feature is the Kompressor. When the 0.44L bin is full, simply press down the lever, and it compresses the contents to half, allowing you to continue your cleaning.
We gave the Power Drive Mop nozzle a go and found it to be great for daily light maintenance. However, this is not for those who do serious mopping as it cannot replace your traditional mop or steam mop in terms of deep cleaning. We liked that there is a three-level mechanism that controls the amount of water that transfers to the rotating mop pad, so your floors aren’t sopping wet and take forever to dry. Bear in mind though, you’ll still need to separately wipe up food spills and other dirty liquids first so as not to contaminate the mop nozzle and the mop pads. As much as we like to kill 2 birds with one stone, we don’t see ourselves using this very often.
The All-in-one Tower measures 260mm x 300mm x1010mm, so as you can imagine, it does take up some floor space. If you live in a typical HDB apartment like we do, you will agree that every bit of real estate is quite precious, not forgetting you’ll need to allocate floor space that is near a power socket too.
However, we do like that it is practical and eliminates the need for having to mount a docking station somewhere into the wall, because not everyone owns a drill and knows how to use one. We can simply dock the handstick vacuum back into the All-in-One tower, and with the press of a button, it will start to transfer all the dust and dirt into the disposable dust bag.
If you’re a neat freak, you will also appreciate that this tower houses and charges the extra battery, a number of frequently used accessories and the dust bag all within. The best part is, they are all concealed. You no longer have to find alternative storage for all the accessories (and forget where you placed them!) and you only have to replace the 2.5L dust bag once it is full. Talk about saving time!
Design-wise, the tower features a clean, minimalist look in white and black which will easily appeal to most people. Most importantly, for something that takes up some space and which you might not be able to hide away in a storeroom or yard, it is far from an eyesore and will likely blend into your home’s overall look and feel.
For those who would like to make use of the ‘smart’ functions, setting up was a breeze, We downloaded the LG ThinQ™ app on our phone and followed the prompts to install and set up. It was very simple, just scan the QR code which is located on the vacuum itself. The app can help you to monitor cleaning history, run diagnosis, check the status of your filter and alert you when it is done charging. I think the alert for replacement of the filter is especially useful, it takes the guesswork away and lets you know when it actually needs to be changed.
The LG CordZero TM A9 Kompressor TM with All-in-One Tower TM retails at S$1,599 at selected outlets from authorized retailers - Audio House, Best Denki, COURTS, Gain City, Harvey Norman, Mega Discount and Parisilk. We do not see the All-in-One Tower being sold separately as an accessory on the LG website, which is a pity, as it may be useful for those who already own a previous CordZero A9 model.
