The Zeekr X Urban is proving to be one of the most refined electric vehicles in the premium compact SUV segment. Sharing its core design with the Volvo EX30, this model is specifically tailored as a Category A Certificate of Entitlement vehicle for city driving, seamlessly blending European aesthetics with smart electric vehicle technology.

When it comes to the powertrain, the Urban version utilises the same 66 kilowatt hour battery found in the standard version but uses software to limit its single motor to 148 brake horsepower and 343 Newton meters of torque. This setup yields a zero to 100 KM per hour time of 8.7 seconds. While the instant electric vehicle torque makes it feel zippy at traffic lights, we would personally prefer the AWD version because of its much better performance. Upgrading to the dual motor flagship AWD variant drops that acceleration sprint down to a blistering 3.8 seconds with 315 kilowatts of peak power.

In terms of everyday usability, the vehicle boasts a very comfortable size, measuring 4432mm long, which makes it incredibly easy to manoeuvre through tight urban spaces. Alongside its tailored dimensions, it offers quite a decent boot space. Families can even manage to fit bulky items like 2 full-size luggage, or maybe 3, in the back. When more cargo room is required, the folding rear seats and clever false floor give you excellent flexible storage.

Stepping inside, we absolutely love the premium finishing. The manufacturer has ensured the cabin feels distinctly luxurious, draped in soft touch faux leather, texturised rubberised dashboard materials, and a beautiful Alcantara headliner. These excellent textures are further enhanced by ambient lighting and frameless door windows.

However, dealing with the weather presents a mixed bag. The car features a sweeping 1.21 square meter panoramic glass roof, without any shade options. Even though its built in SPF protection, the fixed glass roof is a nightmare in the Asian climate. The cabin absorbs intense radiant heat, to the point where the premium metal knob inside got scorching hot from it and was completely untouchable.

On the flip side, the Urban model shines with its included creature comforts. We absolutely love the ventilated seats function. Surprisingly, while this feature is a costly option on the faster Standard model, it comes as a standard inclusion on the Urban trim. It provides immediate cooling relief, which is much needed in the Asian climate.

Finally, the Zeekr X is packed with technology including a crystal clear 14.6 inch touchscreen driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The display can install apps through its app store and be used for playing games, watching videos, and even browsing social media like TikTok, although it will only function when the car stops moving. The car utilises the AI powered Zeekr Voice Assist for climate and navigation controls, but the digital assistant overall utility leaves room for improvement.
Overall, the Zeekr X Urban stands out as a stellar daily driver that balances luxury and efficiency perfectly for the city.
