Called the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre, the new "smart urban mobility hub" concept features a cell-based automated and flexible production system and provides new ways electric vehicle (EV) customers can interact with the manufacturer's vehicles.
The seven-storey, 86,900-square-metre facility also underscores the South Korean automaker's vision to create sustainable and innovative mobility solutions, while delivering a progressive customer experience. It's located in the Jurong Innovation District of Singapore, a district that serves as a home to an advanced manufacturing and research and development ecosystem.

Hyundai Motor Group touts that the cell-based production system housed is a lot more efficient than traditional conveyor-belt manufacturing, allowing it to revolutionise how its vehicles are manufactured and delivered. Almost half of the tasks are carried out by over 200 robots, working in tandem with humans, artificial intelligence (AI) software and vision technology.

Further, the facility reportedly has the potential to build up to 30,000 EVs per annum, including the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 5. It'll also oversee the assembly of robotaxis with Motional, the automaker's driving technology venture with Aptiv and the development of new mobility processes, including Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs).
What's more, the Innovation Centre is built to deliver a new customer experience across the entire value chain. There, customers can enjoy the option to specify the exterior paint and interior upholstery combination. They can additionally schedule a visit to see their personalised EV in construction and go on a tour of the facility in virtual reality (VR). The facility also includes a unique vehicle handover area to make the moment the customer receives their purchase as special and memorable as possible. Other experiences that customers can check out include a 620-metre rooftop Sky Track and a Smart Farm cultivated by robots.
Supported by the Singapore government, the Innovation Centre plans also plans to nurture local talent in the mobility sector through a collaborative and open ecosystem. It'll help incubate Singapore's future mobility-focused technologies and businesses as well as partner with research institutions and universities to hone future talent. Hyundai Motor Group will also champion eco-friendly initiatives by donating plants cultivated at the Smart Farm to the local community.
