Google to Create AI that can Take Over Computers
Alphabet's Google is developing AI technology to control web browsers for tasks like research and shopping. Microsoft-backed OpenAI is also exploring autonomous web browsing for research purposes. Anthropic and Google are collaborating on software to interact directly with users' computers or browsers.

The tech giant is gearing up to unveil this innovation, known internally as Project Jarvis, alongside the launch of its upcoming flagship Gemini large language model, possibly by December. Sources familiar with the matter revealed this information to The Information.
Microsoft-backed OpenAI is also exploring the idea of enabling its models to independently browse the web for research purposes, assisted by a "CUA" (computer-using agent) that can make decisions based on the information gathered, as reported by Reuters earlier this year.

Anthropic and Google are taking a step further by working on software that can directly interact with a user's computer or browser, potentially revolutionizing the way individuals engage with technology, according to The Information's report.
When approached for a statement, Google did not provide an immediate response to Reuters' request for comment.
