Devialet Unveils the Mania, a Portable Smart Hi-Fi Speaker With 360-Degree Stereo Sound
Devialet is bringing its signature brand of premium audio to compact smart speakers that you can take with you on-the-go.
The French audio company today launched the Mania, a portable hi-fi speaker with 360-degree stereo sound. The new device manages to pack in four full-range speakers and two woofers despite being only about five pounds and 170mm tall. It also features the company’s state-of-the-art technologies and an elegant design that looks beautiful in both indoor and outdoor settings.
One of the supported proprietary technologies is Active Stereo Calibration (ASC), which uses the Mania’s four microphones and embedded intelligence capabilities to automatically adapt the audio rendering to suit your surroundings. When you place the speaker in the centre of a room, for instance, it’ll activate 360-degree stereo mode by itself. Meanwhile, if you position it near a wall, the two speakers at the rear work twice as hard to reinforce the two speakers at the front.
The sub-woofers are powered by Speaker Active Matching, another of the company’s special technologies, allowing the Mania to deliver powerful stereo sound at frequencies as low as 30Hz and as high as 20,000Hz.
Devialet touts the Mania is the only speaker in the market right now that features stereo rendering and real-time acoustic mapping, which combines with the speaker’s echo-cancellation and cross-stereo architecture to create a top-notch listening experience.
Other key features include Amazon Alexa support, IPX4 water resistance rating and up to ten hours of battery at moderate volume. You can also download the dedicated Devialet app to set the device up or use voice assistant to stream your favourite music and podcasts via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Airplay 2 or Spotify Connect.
The Mania comes in two colours, black and grey, as well as a Paris Opéra edition, which embellishes the speaker with 24-carat moongold. It’s available for pre-order starting today via Devialet’s website and retail store between S$1,360 to S$1,760.
