AMD Launches Radeon RX 7900 GRE Featuring 16GB of VRAM
An AMD graphics card that was once exclusive to the Chinese market is releasing internationally.

The semiconductor giant announced that the Radeon RX 7900 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) will be available in global markets starting today for US$549. The graphics card boasts up to 12% more frames per second per dollar on average at 1440p max settings compared to the similarly priced GeForce RTX 4070 from Nvidia. It also features 16GB of VRAM, allowing it to deliver 1440p and 4K experiences for current and future game releases.
In terms of specs, the RX 7900 GRE sits between the RX 7900 XT and the RX 7800 XT, housing more cores than the latter but the same memory. Performance-wise, however, the total graphics power tops out at 260W.
The newly launched card additionally features AMD Fluid Motion Frames, which is a proprietary frame generation feature that brings increased frame rates and smoother movement for across all DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 games for all Radeon RX 6000 and 7000 series graphics cards. It also includes AMD HYPR-RX, which delivers the combined performance benefits of AFMF, Radeon Super Resolution, Radeon Anti-Lag and Radeon Boost software features.
Other key features include DP 2.1 support and AV1 encode support and 160 artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators for local AI performance, giving the card the ability to generate images with Stable Diffusion in less than a second or load large language models with billions of parameters.
Prior to AMD's announcement, the RX 7900 GRE was only available in China, as well as a few other markets through system integrators. It later found its way in the DIY market in Europe before AMD decided to officially release it globally.
