Adobe Launches Firefly AI Image App for Smartphones, Expands Partner Access on Web

Adobe Inc. has launched its first dedicated artificial intelligence image-generation app for smartphones, aiming to capitalise on the growing trend of sharing AI-generated visuals on social media.
The new Firefly mobile app is now available on iOS and Android devices. It features Adobe’s proprietary AI model and offers users the ability to generate images directly from their phones.
While the mobile app includes Adobe’s own AI model, partner models from OpenAI, Google, Ideogram, Luma AI, Pika and Runway are currently only accessible through Firefly Boards, a feature within the Firefly web app.
Subscribers to the mobile service will receive unlimited basic image generation using Adobe’s models. Access to premium Adobe models and those from partner firms will incur additional charges.
The subscription pricing for the mobile app matches that of the web version, starting at USD 10 per month.
Adobe previously introduced AI tools in the mobile version of its Photoshop app. The company has not disclosed payment terms for partner models featured in the Firefly platform.
Adobe has assured users that its AI model is trained solely on legally licensed content. The company also provides protection against copyright claims.
Ely Greenfield, Adobe's Chief Technology Officer for Digital Media, said the company’s commitment to commercial safety and transparency in training data remains a key differentiator for users.
