Sharge Technology has introduced its loomys L1 artificial intelligence glasses in Wuhan. The device prioritises fashionable design, all day comfortable wear, and an active AI memory system. Pricing begins at approximately USD 370. According to Pandaily, founder Zhang Bo stated that AI glasses should aim to replace everyday optical eyewear, rather than mobile phones, following an earlier product cycle setback.

The prior product, the A1 AI shooting glasses, launched by Sharge in an earlier period, was initially priced at USD 137 under a co creation model. It achieved over 50,000 domestic pre orders within 24 hours and secured more than USD 2 million in monthly overseas crowdfunding. However, issues became apparent upon delivery, specifically with Bluetooth connectivity, image tuning, battery performance, and software functionality. This led to a wave of returns and refunds. Consequently, Sharge halted production of tens of thousands of units and fully reimbursed early users. Mr Bo reiterated that AI glasses are intended to serve as a substitute for standard eyewear, not for smartphones.

Many existing AI glasses models follow a sunglasses design, limiting their practical wear time to approximately three hours daily. So, the loomys L1 specifically targets individuals who wear glasses for more than 16 hours each day. The organisation employs an aviation grade titanium front frame, paired with natural acetate fibre plates. Titanium offers a notable strength to weight advantage, while acetate is considered skin friendly. This design draws inspiration from the Danish eyewear company Lindberg, featuring cables discreetly placed between the titanium and the plates. A unique spiral hinge with a titanium flexible shaft eliminates the need for a spring mechanism, allows for frame width adjustment, and maintains damping after 10,000 open close cycles, all while concealing internal wiring. The slim profile positions the camera, battery, and motherboard within the temples, shifting the centre of gravity behind the ears. The lightest variant weighs 43 grams, which reportedly reduces nose pressure by 50 per cent.

The loomys L1 operates on the self developed LoomOS active memory system, which functions differently from passive wake modes. Its primary features include multi scene fusion recording, which captures conversations, phone calls, and ambient sound during music playback and voice chats. Another function is a digital and real AI diary that combines recordings with mobile phone messages to summarise individuals met and outstanding tasks. It also offers an AI Live Photo capability, merging photographs with accompanying notes. For user privacy, the glasses include a magnetic lens cover. Sharge has stated it will not permanently store raw audio and images in the cloud, retaining only organised text data.

The device's hardware incorporates a dual chip architecture. This comprises a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 nanometre class W5100 main processor and a Hengxuan BES2700 Bluetooth chip, running on Android. The W5100 processor exhibits 38 per cent lower power consumption compared to the AR1 approach when in AI memory mode. The integrated camera is a bespoke 12 megapixel, 111 degree ultra wide module, approximately 20 per cent smaller than previous designs. Audio output comes via a Goertek 8 millimetre speaker. The battery system uses a 5 second quick swap architecture, with each cell providing 258 milliamperes per hour of power, and a foldable case for storage. This configuration offers an overall battery life of 40 hours, or about 12 hours when the active AI memory function is in use.

And, regarding its operational environment, the loomys L1 integrates with Feishu through a Command Line Interface for agent interconnection, facilitating voice controlled messaging, summaries, and scheduling. It also connects with Tencent WorkBuddy for email functionality. Pricing for the loomys L1 ranges from USD 370 when equipped with Essilor Crizal 1.67 lenses, up to USD 410 for models featuring Zeiss Duravance Platinum 1.67 lenses. Pre orders for the device, which include an annual AI membership costing USD 137, attracted over 25,000 units within the first 24 hours. Large scale delivery is anticipated. Mr Bo noted that this product represents a fundamental shift for the company, suggesting the true evaluation will occur post delivery.
