Zhihu Unveils Luca, China's Answer to ChatGPT

Zhihu, China's largest Q&A platform, introduces Luca, a powerful language model developed with Beijing-based startup Model Best, to enter the chatbot arena.
Zhihu, China's leading Q&A platform, has partnered with Model Best, an AI model-focused startup, to introduce Luca, a robust language model aiming to compete with ChatGPT in the chatbot market. The announcement was made by Li Dahai, Zhihu's partner and chief technology officer, during the recently concluded 2023 China International Big Data Industry Expo in Guiyang, Guizhou province.
Luca, an open-source large language model and generative AI product, was presented at the event, demonstrating its diverse capabilities in various areas such as essay writing, programming, business planning, mathematical reasoning and understanding the Chinese language and the culture. Li Dahai emphasized that Zhihu will continuously enhance Luca's functionalities.
Following the footsteps of tech giants like Baidu Inc, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd and iFlytek Co Ltd, Zhihu joins the growing list of Chinese companies investing heavily in generative AI technology.
