Xiaomi’s new artificial intelligence glasses have surpassed early sales expectations, with around 50,000 units sold since their launch on June 26, according to a company executive.

Li Chuangqi, the executive overseeing the product, said consumer response was “enthusiastic and unanticipated,” with sales several times higher than initial projections.
The Beijing-based tech firm now aims to reach annual sales of over 5 million units within three years.
The AI glasses, priced at 1,999 yuan (USD 278), are available through Xiaomi’s online and physical retail channels.

They feature a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera for first-person video, simultaneous translation, and integration with other Xiaomi smart devices and electric vehicles.
The glasses use the same Qualcomm chip found in Meta Platforms’ AI eyewear.

Xiaomi’s entry into the competitive AI glasses market comes as the sector experiences rapid growth.
According to IDC, China’s smart audio and camera glasses market saw a 197.4% year-on-year increase in the first quarter, with 359,000 units sold.
Li said the development process, which began in June last year with approval from Xiaomi founder and Chief Executive Lei Jun, involved a dedicated team and significant coordination challenges.
Despite competition from companies like ByteDance and Huawei Technologies, Li expressed confidence in the long-term potential of AI glasses, predicting the category could surpass traditional eyewear in market size.
IDC forecasts that China’s smart glasses market, including audio, camera, augmented reality, and virtual reality frames, will exceed 2.9 million units in 2025, marking 121% year-on-year growth.
