vivo Puts a 200 Megapixel Telephoto in Its X500 Series

vivo has confirmed Singapore pricing and availability for its X500 Series, two handsets built around long range photography. The Pro Max carries a 200 megapixel ZEISS APO telephoto camera with an 85mm equivalent lens, and the standard X500 steps down to a 72mm equivalent unit. Both ship with OriginOS 7, which now talks to Apple's ecosystem.

The Pro Max sensor is a 1 by 1.4 inch HP0 part, paired with CIPA 7.0 stabilisation for longer handheld exposures in low light. vivo says its X-Track Engine keeps a subject locked even when it leaves the frame briefly, and autofocus tracking runs at up to 60 frames per second. A clip on 400mm equivalent extender, the ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, stretches reach further across more than ten shooting modes.
Video is where the two models diverge. And the Pro Max adds Cinematic Pro Log with 17 stops of dynamic range, native 4K at 240 frames per second and 4K Dolby Vision portrait video. The smaller phone keeps multi focal 4K at 120 frames per second and a film style mode that crops to a 2.4 to 1 frame.
Both run MediaTek silicon. The Pro Max uses a Dimensity 9600 Pro built on a 2 nanometre process, with two prime cores joined by three performance and three efficiency cores, while the X500 uses a 9600M. Batteries are the largest vivo has put in the X series, at 7,800 mAh and 7,500 mAh, with 90 watt wired and 40 watt wireless charging.
The cells use a second generation semi solid state design that vivo says keeps working at minus 20 degrees Celsius. Bypass charging runs the phone from the cable rather than the battery during heavy use, and on device learning tunes consumption to how the owner actually uses the handset.
OriginOS 7 is the more consequential change for buyers outside China. But the software now pairs with AirPods and Apple Watch, reaches into iCloud, and moves files to Apple devices through a Quick Share link that speaks AirDrop. A migration tool carries contacts and essentials without dragging cached data across.
The AI features lean on recording and routine. Snap and Go reads screenshots for details worth keeping, AI Next Up turns recognised schedules into reminders, and AI Recorder transcribes with speaker labels and builds summaries from six templates, among them meeting notes, lecture notes and interview summaries.
Build details include IP68 and IP69 ratings, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, USB 3.2 and an infrared blaster. The Pro Max has a 6.85 inch flat display, the largest vivo has fitted to a flat panel phone, with 2K resolution and 2,000 nits of peak brightness.
The pricing sharpens the pitch. But both models ship with 512 gigabytes of storage and 36 gigabytes of memory once 24 gigabytes of virtual expansion is counted, at SGD 1,799 for the X500 and SGD 2,299 for the Pro Max during the pre order window.
Those are SGD 200 below the struck through list prices of SGD 1,999 and SGD 2,499, and each handset adds a 200mm telephoto extender and a case worth a further SGD 399. Pre orders run for ten days before retail sales at the end of the month, with Singtel opening its window partway through.
