Vivo Temporarily Halts Product Sales In Germany Following Patent Infringement Lawsuit Loss
Updated: Jan 5
Chinese smartphone maker Vivo suspends sales in Germany after losing Nokia patent infringement case.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo recently announced a temporary suspension of product sales in the German market.
This decision comes in the wake of their defeat in a patent infringement lawsuit against Nokia back in April. The official German website of Vivo now only showcases the homepage and support page, with all product listings removed. However, Vivo assures its customers that it will continue to provide necessary services for previously purchased products.
The ruling by the German Federal Court in Mannheim favoured Nokia in the case involving essential 4G standard patents (SEPs). Vivo was accused of infringing on these patents. In response to the court's judgment, Vivo expressed its willingness to halt sales and marketing of the affected products through official channels in Germany on a temporary basis, if required.
