Online retailer Shein has removed child-like sex dolls from sale after a complaint from the French consumer watchdog, Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control. The company stated the products were immediately removed from its platform.

The Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control, or DGCCRF, had stated late on Saturday it spotted the dolls on the website along with several other pornographic items, such as adult-looking sex dolls. The watchdog reported the matter to judicial authorities.
DGCCRF added that the description and categorisation on the site left little doubt as to the child pornography nature of the content. The agency also noted that no filtering measures effectively limited access to this pornographic content for minors or sensitive audiences.

Shein stated in an email, "The products in question were immediately removed from the platform as soon as we became aware of these major shortcomings." It added that Shein maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any content or products that violate its internal policies or applicable laws.
The Chinese fast-fashion company is set to open its first physical store in France on Wednesday, located at the Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville (BVH) in Paris. Shein also plans to open five other stores within Galeries Lafayette department stores, in Angers, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, and Reims.
Conventional French apparel retailers have criticised Shein, stating the company is undermining their business model with its ultra-low prices.

DGCCRF reported the items to judicial authorities, citing concerns over child pornography content and a lack of access filtering for minors.
