Samsung Electronics is close to finalising a broad partnership with artificial intelligence startup Perplexity AI, aiming to integrate its search technology into upcoming devices, including the Galaxy S26 line expected in the first half of 2026.

The South Korean tech giant plans to preload Perplexity’s app and assistant on future smartphones and incorporate its search features into the Samsung web browser. Discussions have also included embedding Perplexity’s technology into Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant.
Samsung is expected to announce the integration as early as this year, though final details remain subject to change.
The collaboration could position Perplexity as a default assistant option on Samsung devices, marking its most significant mobile partnership to date.
Samsung is also poised to become one of the largest investors in Perplexity’s upcoming funding round, which is reportedly targeting USD 500 million at a USD 4 billion valuation.
The companies have explored additional initiatives, including the development of an AI-powered operating system and an AI agents app that would combine features from Perplexity and other AI assistants.
The potential deal may help Samsung reduce its dependence on Alphabet Inc.’s Google, aligning with a broader industry trend of diversifying AI partnerships, similar to Apple Inc.’s approach.
Apple has also held discussions with Perplexity about using its technology as an alternative to Google Search and ChatGPT within the Siri voice assistant.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, recently acknowledged the company’s interest in Perplexity during testimony at a Google antitrust trial.
It remains uncertain how a formal partnership between Samsung and Perplexity would impact the startup’s ongoing talks with Apple.
