Bowers & Wilkins Revamps Iconic Zeppelin Speaker With Focus on Music Streaming

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

If you've ever owned an iPod, you might know of the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin. First launched in 2007, it was touted as the ultimate iPod dock and it has been tweaked slightly over the years with models like the Zeppelin Air and Zeppelin Mini.

Well, after a long wait, the new Zeppelin has come out, and it's incredibly focused on how most of us listen to music these days: through wireless streaming.

As usual, the Zeppelin is a stereo system in a single package, with Bower & Wilkins' decoupled double-dome tweeters on the far ends of the speaker, and 90mm mid-range drivers surrounding a 150mm central subwoofer. This means you just buy the Zeppelin, and nothing else. You don't need to buy a separate sub or worry about connecting the left and right speakers and the likes.

The speaker supports both AirPlay 2 and aptX Adaptive, which means you get great compatibility with both iOS and Android devices. There's also Spotify Connect, as well as the ability to control the speaker through the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, which can be connected to streaming services like Tidal, Soundcloud and more.

As for smart connectivity, the new Zeppelin comes with Amazon Alexa support built-in. That's not all though. Multi-room capability is planned for 2022, which means you can have a Zeppelin in each room all playing the same music. Sounds like Sonos might have a competitor coming for it soon.

The new Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin retails at S$1,200 and will be available in Singapore in December 2021. The speaker comes in two colours, Midnight Grey or Pearl Grey.
