PlayStation Goes K-Drama, With Kim Se Jeong Starring in Lunar New Year Campaign

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Singapore is celebrating the Lunar New Year!

As part of the celebrations, the digital entertainment giant collaborated with multitalented K-drama artist Kim Se Jeong to launch the PlayStation Lunar New Year Campaign in 2024, dubbed Happy New Play-Year, in Southeast Asia.


Se Jeong, who stars in "The Uncanny Counter” and “Business Proposal”, is known for her approachable and lively personality, which SIE says matches the core principle of the PlayStation brand. In the campaign video, she steps into the world of PlayStation and fills the role of characters from popular PS5 games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Horizon.

“As someone who grew up playing video games, I am very proud to be working with PlayStation on this campaign," said Se Jeong. "The concept is fun, where I get to play mysterious characters in the world of PlayStation and it is great to portray gaming characters, especially Tifa and Aloy who have great costumes and props!"



The campaign includes a social challenge where fans can use a specially created Instagram filter to have a "video call" with Se Jeong and stand a chance to win PS5 covers autographed by the K-drama artist, among other prizes.


Additionally, SIE is running Happy New Play-Year deals on Pulse 3D headsets, select PlayStation Studios games (physical version), PS store games (digital games) and PS Plus subscriptions. Promos reportedly vary per region, so fans should check with their local PlayStation retailers for more information.


Lastly, SIE is hosting Road to the Stage tournaments for EA FC 24 and NBA 2K24 with regional offline final to be held in Bangkok in March 2024. Online qualifiers are ongoing until 13th February with online regional final scheduled for the 24th of the same month. Winner from each region enjoys a sponsored trip to Bangkok for the offline final, while Top 32 winners from each region score PS Plus Deluxe for 12-month memberships.
