Oppo Find X2 Pro Review: I Tried The 60x Zoom And It Works?!

I’ve always been quite impressed by Oppo’s offerings. The Oppo Reno 2 and Reno 10x Zoom were excellent phones with very few flaws, and the new Oppo Find X2 Pro has pretty much eliminated those flaws.

Let’s talk specs first, the Oppo Find X2 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship 5g chipset, the Snapdragon 865. This is currently the most powerful chipset you can get on the market and it shows in everything, from just general web browsing to playing games. The phone runs perfectly, with no lag when opening multiple browser tabs or apps.

No doubt the 12GB of RAM contributes to that, and there’s also 512GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. The screen is a 6.7″ QHD+ 10-bit AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. It’s bright, accurate and supports HDR.

The phone feels good in the hand thanks to the vegan leather backing, but I do have to complain about the plastic screen protector that Oppo puts on by default: it scratches way too easily.

Let’s move on to the cameras because that’s where this phone really shines. There’s a customised Sony 48MP sensor inside that Oppo touts to be the biggest amongst other 48MP sensors at 1/1.43″, and the phone supports 10-bit colour photo-taking, photo-saving and photo display.

The phone has two 48MP lenses, one wide-angle and one ultra-wide angle, with a 13MP periscope camera that supports 10x hybrid zoom and that incredible 60x zoom.

We first tested out the 60x zoom with the Reno 10x Zoom, and we weren’t too impressed with it because of how shaky it was. Thankfully, Oppo has improved it quite dramatically.

Check out these two photos. Both taken at 60x zoom, the one snapped by the Find X2 Pro is much clearer and when taking the photo, it didn’t shake as much as the Reno 10x Zoom did. Granted, there aren’t many situations where you would ever need 60x zoom, but at least it’s not a smudged mess anymore.

Battery capacity isn’t the best with just 4,260mAh, but the 65w charger that’s included in the box charges the phone at lightning speed. You get 0-100 in around 40 minutes, and I can vouch for that. There’s no wireless charging capability, but I’ll take the tradeoff.

Gaming is great on the Find X2 Pro, apps run smoothly and the 120Hz refresh rate really does make a difference in first-person shooters.

All in all, there’s nothing revolutionary about the Find X2 Pro, but it does everything excellently and packs it all into a sleek, beautiful package with that metallic rose gold trim and orange vegan leather.
