The company has launched the "Frontier Alliance" program, built around its new Frontier platform. The alliance includes BCG, McKinsey, Accenture, and Capgemini, signalling a more hands-on approach to AI integration.

The programme pairs OpenAI’s forward-deployed engineers with consultants to embed AI agents into core business processes. These processes include software development, sales, and customer support.

Selling to enterprise clients is a priority for the AI organisation. In December, OpenAI hired former Slack CEO Denise Dresser as chief revenue officer, following months of Chief Executive Sam Altman emphasizing selling to enterprise clients as a priority for the AI lab.

Dresser stated the new partnership helps companies embed AI into core workflows, rather than conducting isolated experiments. She noted that enterprises require a clear path and support to adopt this technology effectively.

OpenAI engineers will work alongside consulting teams to train staff and support implementations under the alliance. The Frontier platform features a "context layer" designed to connect disparate corporate data and applications, a common obstacle to AI adoption.

Companies can build AI agents that share skills and memory across workflows, with management through an observability system. Products like ChatGPT Enterprise are also part of the offering.

Dresser explained that organisations have realised siloed AI deployments do not deliver transformative value. She added that AI represents a "profound" technological shift requiring more than just selling software licenses.

Dresser anticipates that companies collaborating with consulting firms will become self-sufficient over time. This approach ensures customers can take their transformation forward independently.

OpenAI faces competition in the enterprise sector from rivals such as Anthropic, and technology giants like Google. OpenAI states its approach allows companies to maintain existing systems while gaining closer research collaboration.
