MrBeast Shocks Fans with U-Turn: From Snubbing X to Embracing It for Advertising Revenue Potential – Elon Musk's Social Media Strategy Unveiled

MrBeast, the world's biggest YouTuber, has shared his content on X, a struggling social media platform, despite previously dismissing it. The decision comes as MrBeast is curious about the advertising revenue potential on X. X's owner, Elon Musk, has been implementing strategies to boost the platform, including revenue sharing with high-profile creators.

In a recent video, MrBeast shared his content on X for the first time, despite previously stating that even a billion views wouldn't make it worth his while. The decision comes as MrBeast expressed curiosity about the advertising revenue potential on X.

The owner of X, Elon Musk, has been trying various strategies to boost the platform since acquiring it in October 2022. One of these strategies includes sharing advertising revenue with high-profile creators, a practice already common on platforms like YouTube. While the terms of individual deals are confidential, it is believed that top influencers can negotiate special rates.

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has promised to publicly reveal the money he made from the X video in a week's time. The video quickly gained traction, amassing 33 million views in just 10 hours. However, it still has a long way to go to surpass the 211 million views it received on the previous platform since its release in September 2023.

This change of heart from MrBeast is significant, considering his previous stance on posting videos on X. He had dismissed the platform, stating that it wouldn't be worth his time or cover the cost, even if his videos garnered a billion views. However, the allure of X's potential advertising revenue seems to have swayed him.

MrBeast is known for his extravagant YouTube videos, which reportedly cost millions of dollars to produce. His success on YouTube has also translated into financial gains, with Forbes estimating his earnings at $54 million (£42.5 million) in a year. With an additional 120 million subscribers gained since then, hosting MrBeast's content is undoubtedly a boon for X.

However, there is no guarantee that MrBeast will replicate his YouTube success on X. The recent deal struck by US celebrity Paris Hilton serves as a cautionary tale. Hilton's content was pulled from X after just four weeks, highlighting the challenges creators may face on the platform.

Some industry experts speculate that MrBeast's decision to share his content on X is not merely to make the platform look good but to prove a point about the limitations of making money as a video creator on Twitter. Dave Wiskus, CEO of indie streaming service Nebula, believes that MrBeast is leveraging his visibility to bring about improvements in the industry.

The amount of advertising revenue creators can earn on X may also be influenced by Elon Musk's rocky relationship with advertisers. Last year, Musk had a public feud with Disney's CEO after the entertainment giant pulled its advertising from X. Additionally, X has faced accusations of allowing hate speech on the platform, which it vehemently denies. MrBeast, with his wholesome image and charitable endeavors, stands in contrast to some of the celebrities previously endorsed by Musk on X.

Ultimately, the success of MrBeast's experiment on X will depend on how many users he can attract to the platform. While big brands play a significant role in supporting social networks, the consistent support of millions of small and medium businesses is crucial for the platform's sustainability.
