According to Insider, Amazon has committed to the amount for a period of five years and plans to secure more than one million Microsoft 365 license seats.

The news has caused Microsoft's shares to rise by nearly 1% in extended trading. While Microsoft declined to comment on the matter, Amazon has not responded to Reuters' request for comment. The report states that Amazon is expected to begin setting up the new systems in early November. Currently, the company uses a local, on-premise version of Microsoft's Office products.

This potential deal highlights the growing demand for cloud-based productivity tools and services. Microsoft's 365 suite offers a range of applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, which have become essential tools for businesses and individuals worldwide. By securing Amazon as a customer, Microsoft would further solidify its position as a leading provider of cloud-based solutions.
