LG Electronics Showcases New Solutions To Bring Clean Air To Homes

LG has today unveiled its new R32 refrigerant for air conditioners and LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan. Through these climate-friendly products, LG aims to be the provider for homeowners looking for fresh air solutions in their homes.

Let's start with the R32 refrigerant, made for commercial and residential settings. LG claims that the R32 is much more efficient and green compared to their more mainstream R410A refrigerant with zero ozone depletion and lower global warming potential.

On the energy consumption side, LG's internal tests also claim that the R32 will save you up to 24% to 32% energy based on usage patterns at 1.9kW and 1.7kW respectively thanks to its peak current control technology that allows users to set the maximum consumption level for the power used.

So for those of you looking for a new air conditioning solution for your home or office, the R32 sports a 5-tick rating on Singapore's Energy Guide and a Climate-Friendly label. From the event alone we definitely can't tell how it will fare in the long run but if it's of major consideration to you, the assurance brandings are there.

The R32 comes in three variations with different support for the number of air conditioning units, cooling capacity and power ratings. Visually they all look identical to each other so if you are planning to go for it, be sure to check in with the retailer for a more informed decision.

What we did experience at the event, though, is the LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan. Really long name aside, this "eye of Sauron" looking tower fan utilises a 3-step filtration system with a pre-filter, 360-degree HEPA filter and a deodorisation filter to remove allergens, fine dust and odours in the air. It has three options for airflow modes and our first impression of it is that the fan hum is audible but not too distracting.

LG's UVnano technology also claims to remove up to 99.9% of bacteria from the fan blades, making it sound very self-sustainable in terms of cleanliness. Do note that the filters will still have to be replaced periodically.

To streamline the user experience, the AeroTower and all LG conditioners compatible with the R32 such as the Alpha Plus and Art Cool can be controlled and managed via the LG ThinQ app. Owners can individually switch on and off their LG devices and the app also notifies you of the current indoor air quality and when it's time to replace your filters.

Both LG products unveiled at the event today are currently available at LG official brand stores and authorised retailers. Check out the link to learn more about the LG R32 refrigerant and the PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan.
