iPhone 14 Case Schematics Hint at Apple Dropping the Mini Model

The launch of the iPhone 14 is not due until September, but that hasn’t stopped leakers from uncovering new tidbits about Apple’s forthcoming lineup of flagship releases.

A photo recently uploaded on Weibo allegedly shows leaked case schematics for the new iPhone lineup. If what’s seen on the photo is to be believed, Apple is set to drop the mini model starting with the iPhone 14, replacing it with a Max-sized standard iPhone, as previously rumoured.

The photo additionally shows the different sizes of the four releases. The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro will come at 6.1 inches while the iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone 14 Pro max will come at 6.7-inches.

The user who uploaded the photo on Weibo also noted that the base iPhone 14 model and the iPhone 14 Max will continue to sport the same notch design of previous iPhone iterations. The higher-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, on the other hand, will flaunt new pill and hole cutout designs, as also mentioned by other rumours before.

However, because there’s currently no way to determine where the photo is from – if it’s actually from Apple’s suppliers or factories – it’s best to take any information it reveals with a grain of salt. Then again, the information does line up with previous rumours and leaks.

It was also previously reported that Apple will debut the A16 chipset this year with the iPhone 14 series, but it’ll only ship with the two Pro models. The standard iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max will have the same A15 chipset from last year’s iPhone 13 models. The A16 Bionic chipset will be based on a 4nm process, making it faster and more powerful than the A15, which is based on a 5nm process.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 14 sometime in September of this year, if the company follows its annual launch schedule.
