A humanoid robot named Adam from PNDbotics made its music festival debut as a keytar player during a live performance at the VOYAGEX Music Festival in China.

Dressed in a hoodie, cap and face covering to blend in with the band and avoid startling the audience, Adam joined Hu Yutong’s band on stage, showcasing pre-programmed key sequences.
The robot, likely the SP configuration of the Adam model, stands 1.67 metres tall and weighs 62 kilograms. It features 44 degrees of full-body freedom, 340 Nm of joint torque and five-digit robotic hands.

PNDbotics’ SP model differs from its Lite and U variants. The Lite version has rubber-like balls at the wrists, while the U model includes dexterous hands and a wheeled base.
Though Adam’s performance was not autonomous and was monitored by a support team, the robot’s integration into the band’s look and sound was well-received as a promotional showcase.
PNDbotics markets Adam as a modular, AI-powered humanoid robot with an open-source SDK and support for NVIDIA’s Deep Reinforcement Learning and Isaac Gym training.
The Adam platform is still in the prototype stage. The first official release is expected to be the U model, developed in partnership with Noitom, and will launch at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in September.
Pricing for the U model starts at USD 45,000, while SP prototypes are already listed online for USD 100,000.
