HP Expands Their Gaming Portfolio with OMEN 16 and Victus By HP 16 Gaming Laptops

We've had the opportunity to be part of HP's Gaming Workshop where HP introduced its new gaming portfolio consisting of the refreshed for 2022 OMEN 16 Laptop, Victus by HP 16 Laptop, and an improved OMEN Gaming Hub that aims to enhance the gaming experience especially for those of us who are constantly on the go.

According to HP, gaming has become a bigger part of the lives of Asian gamers, with playtime increasing for a whopping 61% of them during the pandemic and total consumer spending for PC gaming hardware and accessories is up 62% from 2019.

At the workshop, we were greeted with two battlestations consisting of a full setup filled with peripherals and with each battlesation being powered by the OMEN 16 gaming laptop and Victus by HP 16 gaming laptop respectively.

The OMEN 16 in particular receives upgraded with the thermal cooling solution in the form of an added fifth heat pipe and a fourth outflow vent to achieve a -3% GPU hinge and -14% bottom SSD temperature while also running 5% quieter as compared to the last generation. Best of all, the new laptop can be fitting with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU with the latest MAX Q technologies or AMD Ryzen RX 6650M for the GPU side of things, which will play really nicely with the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX Mobile Processor for the CPU. Additionally, you can choose up to 32GB of DDR5 4800MHz RAM and up to 2TB PCie Gen4x4 SSD storage for even added performance.

The display is also stunning with up to QHD resolution running at 165Hz with a 3ms response time and covering 100% sRGB. Not only do the games look good, they feel good to play as well. And of course, you get per-key RGB lighting to round up the entire package.

The Victus by HP 16 gaming laptop on the other hand also receives a nice update for 2022, getting a slightly revamped look but still retaining that large wire rear vents which makes a distinct impression. Within holds a five-way airflow deisgn with four heat pipes, keeping things cool while your games get intense. The laptop can be fitted with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 5500M for the GPU and up to an Intel Core i7-11800H series processors or the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H Mobile Processors alongside up to 32GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM.

Pushing a 16-inch display in a 15.6-inch chassis allows for great visuals and you can also get up to a QHD 165Hz IPS panel with this entry-level gaming laptop. Not a bit less compared to its more powerful brother!

Both laptops will also ship the OMEN Gaming Hub preinstalled which provides great features such as Performance Mode, Network Booster, and System Vitals to help games run light. A new Optimizer feature takes this even further by enabling enthusiasts to free up system resources and tweak low-level OS settings to maximize FPS.

During the workshop, we were also witness to a 1-1 deathmatch in Valorant courtesy of two streamers, Carine and Leslie, who utilised the two battestations to duke it out. Needless to say, the frame were smooth even at QHD at the highest settings while outputting to multiple displays and with screen recording turned on too. They two of them also shared their insights with regard to the gaming industry and how they feel it will be moving forward.

The Victus by HP 16 gaming laptop will have a starting MSRP of S$1,899 while the OMEN 16 gaming laptop will have a starting MSRP of S$2,899.
