Alibaba Group has implemented a significant number of HarmonyOS-native innovations across more than twenty of its applications. This development, seen in the first half of the year, signifies a strategic change. The organisation is now moving beyond simple app compatibility to integrate deeply with Huawei's system capabilities, enhancing user functionality across various services.

According to a report by Pandaily, Alibaba deployed over fifty HarmonyOS-native innovation features within the first six months of the year. This extensive programme spans across twenty-plus applications, which include Amap, DingTalk, UC Browser, Taobao, Xianyu, Quark, Qianwen, Fliggy, Alibaba Cloud, Damai, 1688, Taobao Deals, Youku, Tmall Car Care, and Fengniao Rider. These applications cover essential areas such as navigation, office productivity, e-commerce, content consumption, and local services.
Within the transportation sector, Amap now features HarmonyOS-specific live windows for cycling and walking navigation. These are visible directly on device lock screens and status bars. Furthermore, Amap offers augmented reality real-world walking navigation, specifically designed for foldable devices, alongside proactive commuting alerts delivered via the XIAOYI intelligent agent's learning capabilities. And Fliggy Travel enables users to conduct voice-activated destination searches using an intention framework, requiring minimal interaction steps.
E-commerce applications have also received attention. Damai now includes an AI Maibao agent, facilitating movie ticket purchases through a single voice command directed to XIAOYI. The 1688 platform's agent manages enterprise information queries. Xianyu reports millisecond-level recommendation responses, achieved through its intention framework. Both Taobao and Dian Tao have adapted their immersive browsing functions for foldable and tablet screens, offering adjustable display columns. Taobao Deals also provides seamless content flow transfer between various devices.
Content-focused applications are using HarmonyOS capabilities in greater depth. Quark and UC Browser employ a smart clip card feature for sharing specific content segments. These segments appear as cards, which other users can access directly by scanning a QR code. So, Qianwen has incorporated a unified drag-drop feature, allowing individuals to move images or text from any application interface straight into Qianwen for cross-application AI analysis. This functionality eliminates the need for traditional copy-paste operations. This integration of the Qwen AI agent indicates that AI is being treated as a system-level capability rather than a standalone application feature.
Office productivity, particularly with DingTalk, shows considerable system integration. This includes an intention framework, service cards, wireless projection, and screen casting. Users can begin DingTalk meetings via a single voice command to XIAOYI. Meeting schedules and tasks are persistently displayed as service cards on the desktop, with meeting content projected to larger screens with one tap. Alibaba Cloud also supports service cards, unified link navigation, and TaskPool for managing cloud resources with reduced overhead.
Specialised applications are also benefiting from native HarmonyOS features. Tmall Car Care now integrates Huawei account single sign-on and system calendar synchronisation for maintenance scheduling purposes. Youku video has launched an AI agent capable of one-command drama recommendations, selection, and actor information searches. But Fengniao Rider and Fengniao Courier, frequently used delivery rider applications, simultaneously integrate six system capabilities. These capabilities include scanning, a smart image picker, TaskPool, HarmonyOS vibration, safety camera, safe location features, and AI reading.
The wide-ranging feature deployment across Alibaba's diverse application portfolio illustrates a change in the HarmonyOS strategy. The shift moves beyond merely building an application ecosystem to optimising it. Existing applications are being reimagined using native operating system capabilities, rather than simply being ported for basic operational compatibility. This reflects a deeper commitment to the platform by Big Tech developers.
Alibaba has deployed over fifty HarmonyOS-native features across more than twenty applications.
The integration spans diverse categories, including navigation, e-commerce, content, and office productivity.
Key features include AR navigation, voice-activated commands, unified drag-drop AI analysis, and deep system service card integration.
The strategy marks a transition from basic compatibility to a comprehensive optimisation of existing applications.
