Google has launched a new film and television production initiative called 100 Zeros, aiming to fund or co-produce projects in partnership with Range Media Partners, according to a report.

The multi-year collaboration marks Google's latest move to expand its presence in the entertainment industry, as it seeks to promote its AI and spatial computing technologies.
100 Zeros is already credited as one of the producers of the indie horror film "Cuckoo," which it supported in marketing last year, according to entertainment platform Letterboxd.
The initiative comes amid rising production costs in Hollywood following the 2023 actors' and writers' strikes, as well as concerns over potential U.S. tariffs on foreign-made films.
Google and Range Media announced last month that they would commission films about AI over the next 18 months. The first two titles from the venture, "Sweetwater" and "LUCID," are expected to release later this year.
Rather than using YouTube as a primary distribution platform, Google plans to sell 100 Zeros projects to traditional studios and streaming services such as Netflix, the report said.
YouTube previously launched its own original programming under "YouTube Originals" in 2016 but shut down the project in 2022 to refocus on user-generated content and its short-form video feature, Shorts.
