Garmin on Thursday, 18 April announced its ECG App is now available in Singapore for selected smartwatches. The FDA-cleared app enables you to record your heart rhythm and check for signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib) using your smartwatch. AFib is an irregular heart rhythm, which can result in blood clots, as well as up the risk of serious conditions like stroke and heart failure.

You can use the app to record a 30-second electrocardiogram (ECG) and view your heart rhythm results immediately on the watch or later in the Garmin Connect smartphone app.

The ECG App uses sensors on your watch to record the electrical signals that control how your heart beats whenever you take an ECG reading. It then analyses the recording to determine your heart rate and detect signs of an irregular rhythm. In addition to that, you have the option to sync your ECG App results to Garmin Connect, so you can view it on a separate device. The Garmin Connect App also gives you access to a history of ECG results and create reports that can shared with a health care provider.

"We are pleased to bring the ECG App to even more of our users, including those with our flagship epix Pro and fēnix 7 Pro series smartwatches," said Mr. Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager of Garmin Asia.
