The beloved Spanish football club has announced Barça Vision, a new platform that shall unify its Web3, non-fungible token (NFT) and metaverse initiatives. The platform is said to be vital in the Barça Digital Space strategy, which would enable fans around the world to share their passion and excitement for the club with a virtual community. It would also enable the club to tap new audiences across different generations.

The launch of Barça Vision was attended by FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta and the platform's Managing Director Joan Moya, along with Members of the Board of Directors and CCMA President Rosa Romà.

"Barça Vision is a content platform that will help us build the Barça Digital Space and bring together FC Barcelona fans from around the world into a digital community, strengthening the sense of belonging to the institution," said Laporta. "FC Barcelona's main aim is to win trophies to bring back the joy to FC Barcelona supporters, while also being duty-bound to look for the best ways to make the most of its strong and valuable brand in financial terms."

Laporta also said that, with the platform's launch, FC Barcelona can now say it's "the best digital club in the world".

Moya, meanwhile, outlined the club's plans for Barça Vision, noting that virtual reality experiences are in the cards. One project, for example, involves creating virtual versions of the spaces in Camp Nou, a move that's meant to immortalise the club's old stadium by bringing it to the metaverse.

More NFTs featuring the club's star players are also on the way. FC Barcelona previously sold an NFT from its Masterpiece Collection for US$300,231.36 at an online auction run by OpenSea. The digital token features Alexia Putellas and pays tribute to an unforgettable moment from the club's history, namely the UWCL semifinal against Wolfsburg in April 2022.

FC Barcelona wants to create an integrated ecosystem of its products, services and content in the digital space as it sees the digital business as a main source of income in the coming years.
