Jason Miller, one of the former president’s senior advisers, stated in an interview on Fox News’ show, MediaBuzz, that Trump is planning on returning to social media through creating a social media platform of his own which will be launched in two or three months’ time.

“This is something that I think will be the hottest ticket in social media, it’s going to completely redefine the game and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does,” Miller said.

Miller previously stated in the interview that Trump’s press releases have been noticed to have better “play” compared to his tweets on Twitter. Miller mentioned, “I’m not sure if it’s because the length of them are a bit longer. I’ve even had one reporter say that she thought it was much more elegant – the way the President was able to communicate his thoughts; it very much looked presidential in that longer form.” Whether this means Trump will be using his new platform to serve as his megaphone for his press releases is still up for debate.

Miller was unable to give further information on Trump’s social media platform, but he did mention that Trump is having “high-powered meetings” with various teams and numerous companies about setting up his platform at his estate in Mar-a-Lago.

You might recall that President Trump was banned from most popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitch and even Twitter, his preferred social media platform, after the siege of Capitol Hill on 6 January 2021. This was due to Trump and his top officials’ speeches allegedly inciting violence amongst Trump supporters and talking them to go to the Capitol.

After Trump’s ban, some thought he would transfer to Parler to be able to continue voicing his opinions on social media.

Parler is a messaging app and website which provides far-right groups with a platform to share their views and opinions with each other. However, the website was removed from the internet by Amazon due to the website’s non-compliance with their rules. Apple and Google also removed Parler from their respective app stores due to the lack of moderation in the app.

Before his presidency, Trump frequently used Twitter as his megaphone to voice his opinions and disapproval on some of the Obama Administration’s decisions such as Obama’s bombing of Syria.
