The DJI Mavic 4 Pro has officially landed, and it’s not just an incremental update—it’s a significant leap forward in both camera technology and flight intelligence.

This powerhouse drone isn’t just about capturing beautiful aerial footage anymore; it’s about changing the way creators think about content capture, particularly for social-first platforms.

Triple-Camera Brilliance

At the heart of the Mavic 4 Pro lies an incredibly advanced triple-camera system.

The main star is the Hasselblad 28mm camera equipped with a large 4/3 CMOS sensor, capable of shooting in stunning 25MP or a staggering 100MP resolution. With an adjustable aperture ranging from f/2 to f/11, it gives creators complete control over depth and exposure—whether you're shooting a cinematic sunset or a bright midday landscape.

Complementing the main camera are two telephoto options: a medium telephoto camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, and a periscope-style long-range zoom camera with a 1/1.5-inch sensor. These lenses offer an unmatched level of flexibility—from sweeping wide-angle vistas to crisp, detailed close-ups—without sacrificing image quality.

The Vertical Revolution

Here’s the real showstopper: native vertical shooting. For the first time ever in a multi-camera drone setup, DJI introduces true vertical video capability.

Thanks to a fully rotating "infinity gimbal" with 360-degree rotation. No cropping. No compromise. This is vertical content done right, and it’s a game-changer for creators targeting Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts.

Smarter, Safer Flight

One of the Mavic 4 Pro’s most impressive new features is its Non-GPS Return-To-Home (RTH) functionality.

The drone can now memorize and recognize its flight path—even without a GPS connection. That’s a significant step in drone autonomy and a welcome safety net for creators working in GPS-compromised environments.

Coupled with DJI’s O4+ transmission system, users get buttery-smooth 10-bit HDR video streamed up to 30km away, ensuring real-time feedback at near-professional quality even in demanding conditions.

DJI RC Pro 2: A Control Center Reimagined

The Mavic 4 Pro is complemented by the redesigned DJI RC Pro 2 controller, now featuring a 7-inch Mini-LED screen with an eye-searing 2000 nits of brightness—ideal for outdoor visibility.

The screen rotates 90 degrees to match the drone’s vertical shooting capabilities, offering a full-screen portrait preview in real time.

Added conveniences include:

  • A tactile adjustment dial for quick settings

  • HDMI output for external monitors

  • 128GB of internal storage

  • Up to 4 hours of battery life

The new design is more compact too: when closed, the screen protects the control sticks, making it easier to pack and travel with.

Extended Flight Time and Faster Charging

Battery life gets a meaningful upgrade as well, jumping to 51 minutes per charge, compared to the 43 minutes of the Mavic 3 Pro.

This extended endurance, along with faster charging options, reduces downtime and maximizes time in the air.

Pricing and Final Thoughts

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro starts at $2,049 USD with the RC 2 controller, one battery, and a power adapter. Creators looking for the full professional suite can opt for the 512GB Creator Combo, priced at $3,239, which includes the upgraded RC Pro 2, higher internal storage, and a faster 240W charger.

Yes, it’s expensive. But for creators and professionals who demand top-tier video quality, versatility, and cutting-edge tools for modern content creation, the Mavic 4 Pro delivers in spades. The real question isn’t whether it’s worth it—the question is: will you use all of this power to its full potential?

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro’s camera upgrades look amazing for aerial shots! Funny enough, I first heard about it while picking up my dissertation from thesis binding experts a fellow customer couldn’t stop raving about it. If the specs match the hype, this drone might be worth the splurge for serious creators!
