CMF Phone 1 Review : This Phone Has A Removable Backing?!

Disassembling the CMF Phone 1 has been a remarkably enjoyable experience for me. Although I haven't had the opportunity to take apart any phones recently, the arrival of CMF's Phone 1 was the first thing I did upon receiving it. This phone is truly unique.

CMF, the stylish and budget-friendly sub-brand of Nothing, has launched the Phone 1. While it shares its name and operating system with Nothing's original phone, it stands out with a unique modular design that allows for extensive customization. Rather than just swapping the case, you can replace the entire back panel.

The idea is simple: the back panel of the phone is removable, allowing you to swap it with various options. Each replacement kit comes with a small screwdriver, screws, and a matching SIM tray.

There is also a round accessory port cover located in the phone's bottom corner. Although it looks like the control dial on CMF's neckband earbuds, its sole function is to protect the accessory port.

The phone is a reliable budget-friendly Android device, boasting a 6.7-inch OLED display, a 50-megapixel rear camera, a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, and a 5,000mAh battery. It comes with a black panel by default, but you can also choose from orange, turquoise, and blue options.

Removing the back panel is quite straightforward if you use the screwdriver correctly on the screws. Seeing the exposed internals of a modern phone is truly fascinating.

After reassembling the phone, you can enhance it with various accessories. The wallet, for example, consists of two parts: a plastic panel featuring a MagSafe-like magnet and the wallet itself. You can also use the kickstand or the lanyard while the wallet is in place.

The kickstand is sturdy, the lanyard is made of thick, woven fabric. Although I might not be stylish enough to wear my phone this way, others may find it appealing. All accessories come in a vibrant orange color.
