Chinese cybersecurity firms are promoting their software solutions in the wake of the CrowdStrike-Microsoft outage. 360 Security Technology highlights the reliability and stability of its products, emphasising the importance of evaluating endpoint security software. QAX calls for stricter quality control of software from vendors involved in system stability.

This incident, one of the largest in history, disrupted businesses and grounded flights worldwide. As Beijing aims to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, Chinese cybersecurity firms are promoting their own software solutions.
360 Security Technology, China's largest cybersecurity firm, wasted no time in highlighting the reliability and stability of its products. In a social media post, the company emphasised the importance of evaluating endpoint security software to avoid potential security risks and ensure business continuity and data security.

QAX, another prominent player in the sector, called for stricter quality control of software from vendors involved in system stability. They emphasised the need for robust measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Tencent Holdings, the operator of Tencent PC Manager platform, acknowledged reports from users experiencing the Windows error screen and directed them to CrowdStrike's official workaround steps to resolve the issue.
This incident further strengthens Beijing's resolve to reduce dependence on foreign technology. China has been gradually phasing out software from companies like Russia's Kaspersky Lab and US-based Symantec. Notably, CrowdStrike does not sell its products and services in China.
While Microsoft announced that its systems have been restored, businesses continue to grapple with the aftermath of the outage. The Hong Kong International Airport, which experienced a collapse of its passenger check-in system, reported that operations have returned to normal.
China's cybersecurity market is dominated by local players, and the government's mistrust of foreign commercial software has deepened since the Edward Snowden leaks in 2013. The government has been actively promoting the use of domestic security software, with all departments of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology installing 360 software.
CrowdStrike, known for monitoring Chinese cyberattacks, has reported numerous incidents involving China-linked actors targeting US technology and pharmaceutical companies. However, the Chinese government has consistently denied any involvement in such activities.
In the aftermath of the outage, CrowdStrike's shares fell by 11.1% on the Nasdaq, while Microsoft experienced a slight decline of 0.74%. Competitors SentinelOne and Palo Alto Networks, on the other hand, saw gains of 7.85% and 2.16% respectively.
