China connects a 750-kilovolt power transmission and transformation project to the grid in Qinghai Province. The project's goal is to incorporate electricity supplied by new energy sources into the electrical system. It is estimated to produce more than 9 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy yearly.

The project, located at an average elevation of 3,175 metres above sea level in Gonghe County, China's Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, would help connect electricity generated by new energy projects in the province to the power grid, such as solar and wind power projects.

The project is planned to boost yearly clean energy power output by more than 9 billion kilowatt-hours, saving around 3.12 million tonnes of standard coal and lowering carbon dioxide emissions by 8.64 million tonnes.

Qinghai contains the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Lancang rivers and is well-known for its abundant water, solar, and wind power resources. Qinghai's total installed clean energy capacity reached 51.07 million kilowatts in 2023.
