Belkin has recently introduced the Stage PowerGrip at CES 2025, a magnetic battery pack that goes beyond just charging your phone. This unique device features an old-school camera grip and shutter button, making it a versatile accessory for mobile photography enthusiasts. Not limited to iPhone users, the PowerGrip is designed to be compatible with a range of Android phones that support wireless charging and the right magnetic case.
The PowerGrip's design, resembling a traditional camera, offers both functionality and a touch of retro style. It includes a Bluetooth-enabled shutter button on the grip, enabling users to capture photos using their phone's camera app. This Bluetooth connectivity ensures seamless cross-platform compatibility, allowing Android users to enjoy this feature as effortlessly as iPhone owners.
On the power front, the PowerGrip comes equipped with a built-in retractable USB-C cable for charging other devices, a 10,000mAh battery capacity, and 7.5W wireless charging for your phone. While it doesn't support the latest 15W Qi2 wireless charging speeds, a small LED screen on the front provides real-time updates on the remaining battery life.
The MagSafe-specific magnet configuration makes the PowerGrip primarily suitable for iPhones. However, Android users with wireless charging capabilities, such as the new Pixel 9 series, can easily unlock this functionality by adding a magnetic ring to their case. Belkin offers the PowerGrip in various colours like powder blue, sandbox, fresh yellow, pepper, and lavender, setting it apart with its attractive design options.
Although the pricing details are yet to be officially disclosed, reports suggest that Belkin aims to price the PowerGrip at under $80 per unit. Despite being on the higher end of the spectrum, the device's versatility and features make it an appealing choice for individuals interested in mobile photography and those in need of a multi-functional power bank. Belkin plans to release the PowerGrip in May 2025.
