Baidu Unveils AI Video Generator and Revamps Search Engine

Baidu has launched a new AI-powered video generator for businesses and introduced major upgrades to its search engine, the company announced Wednesday.

The image-to-video model, named MuseSteamer, can create videos up to 10 seconds long and is available in three versions: Turbo, Pro and Lite.

Unlike consumer-focused tools such as OpenAI’s Sora, MuseSteamer is currently designed exclusively for business users. A consumer version has not yet been released.

The launch comes as global tech firms and AI leaders expand into video generation, moving beyond chatbots. In China, companies like ByteDance, Tencent and Alibaba have also introduced similar models.

Baidu also overhauled its search engine, adding a redesigned search box that supports longer queries, voice input and image-based searches.

The updated platform uses Baidu’s AI technology to deliver more targeted content to users.

The company faces growing competition from AI-based chatbots such as ByteDance’s Doubao and Tencent’s Yuanbao, which have gained popularity in China.
