Avride, an autonomous technology startup, announced on Thursday it is scaling up vehicle testing in Dallas. This expansion prepares for the launch of Avride robotaxis on the Uber platform.

The startup announced a broader partnership with Uber in Oct. last year. This collaboration has already led to the commercialization of robotic food deliveries and will soon include autonomous transportation.

Avride's delivery robots launched on the Uber Eats platform in Austin in Nov. last year. These services later expanded to Dallas, and Jersey City.
By the end of this year, Avride's autonomous vehicles will join the Uber platform as robotaxis. This integration will bring both of the startup's products onto the same platform.
Sarfraz Maredia, Uber's head of autonomous mobility and delivery, stated, "Soon, Uber riders will have a new way to move around the city, marking another step toward making autonomous transportation part of everyday life."

The Dallas robotaxi fleet will use Hyundai Motor's IONIQ 5 EV platform, integrated with Avride's autonomous driving technology. The Dallas robotaxi fleet will leverage the cutting-edge IONIQ 5 EV platform, which provides advanced electric vehicle capabilities.
Avride partnered with Hyundai in Mar. this year to expand its robotaxi fleet. They also signed a deal with the South Korean automaker to jointly develop and operate self-driving vehicles.
The startup has also collaborated with food delivery company Grubhub. This partnership deploys Avride robots on college campuses across the United States.
